The message at the heart of this site inspired my wife and myself, so much so that we decided to build a website surrounding that message. I am a retired Marine of 22 years, and my wife works at the Pentagon. Rebekkah was not far from the tragedy there and literally ran for her life last Tuesday. She was obviously shaken by the experience and we have been working through it ever since. I had thought of doing a website on a couple occasions over the past week, but this message was the last straw that made it a 'necessity'.

The website is still in it's infancy but the most important pieces are up and running. Starting with the Leonard Pitts Jr. message, there is also a Guest Book, a Discussion page, and a couple slideshows. The other areas of the site are still being developed. When you visit the site, realize that we only read the message a couple hours ago - we've come a ways already and we have plenty more territory to cover. Our intent is not to provide late-breaking news, but rather a place for people to share.

Why are we doing this? Why not? Actually, there isn't much else we can do and we HAVE to do something. Thanks again.

Brian & Rebekkah Burtis

I think this is an act of insanity and people responsible for this deserve to die. The cruel act has effected many people and of different faiths. This tragedy has also brought hatred amongst us. I hope that we unite as a nation and take care of each other.

a moving article that captures 'dead on' the American spirit and sentiment when our overly patient/cautious country is pushed TOO far.

Words can't express the anger and sorrow I am Feeling. The gutless cowards who did this are just that, Gutless cowards. They hit us and then run and hide. Well let me tell you one thing, They can't hide from the United States because we will hunt them down like the animals they are. WE WILL NEVER FORGET. God Bless the U.S.A.

Osama and his blind sheep have done us as a nation a tremendous favor. He has awakened us in a way that no politician or evanglist could ever hope to. Some 6000 lives were taken for no sane reason. When Pearl Harbor was bombed a Japanese admiral was heard to say words to the effect "I fear we have awakened a sleeping lion" The smoke from the ruins of the towers has not yet disapated and from the caves of Bin Laden and his rats can be heard the imortal words "Ohhh Shit!"

What was done to New York, and the pentagon, in my opinion an act of a coward. He calls us terrorist because we strick back, well he is just beginning to see what real terror is. We as Americans are stronger now then we ever were before, and we WONT let this terrorist forget it.

I feel that the people of the United States will stand tall. I think that if the Arabics or any other nationality wants to live in this country then they need to be willing to fight for this country. I don't feel that only our children should be put out there on the front line while their children sit back and reap the benifits of our freedom. That sucks.

well it,s ashame that we trained these type of individuals that pay us back this way. we should be more careful on whom we accept here in the usa.it is also sad that some of the bravest men lost their lives trying to save others. but, god will take care of them in heaven.and the ones that did it will go straight to where they belong.now its time for them to pay back.and we should not stop until we get him here in the usa and make him pay back for what he did.my sympathy goes to all the families who lost their loved ones.god bless you all.

I don't know where to start - after almost four weeks, I'm still overwhelmed at the very thought of what has occurred. It is not a personal tragedy, to my knowledge I knew no one on the planes or at the various ground zeroes, but at the same time, I feel this sense of personal loss! How does one say: "I share your grief." to all of those who HAVE lost someone? We can't really possibly know the grief that the survivors do.

I used to be an E.M.T./Firefighter, and although I have never been subjected to the extent of tragedy my fellow firefighters were, I none-the-less have tasted the adrenalin and primordial fear that they must have experienced. My heart and prayers go to the families, and to the victims of this outrageous and barbaric, senseless act of terrorism. I, as an American, would personally like to put my hands around the neck of the one responsible, but realize that our country is strong, our people intelligent, and I know without a doubt that we, as a United Country, will eventually annihilate the terrorists and their actions. We have to remember our forefathers, and our history. Many lives were lost to ensure our freedom in this country. We have to remember the Revolution, Civil War, Wars I and II. Our fathers paid in blood and sweat, with land and with family, so that we may live in a free and fearless country. We have that blood running through our veins, we have memories to remind us of who we are, and we are strong. I love our country, I am proud of our country, and our prayers are being heard every second of every day. Without a doubt we will prevail. God Bless America!!!

Your website is very inspiring. The most overwhelming feeling of sadness and loss is being tempered by pride in fellow citizens...so many who have shown by their leadership that they are willing to step up to the line. For the longest time, I have been afraid that Americans didn't like each other any more, but my faith in my countrymen has been renewed. I feel much safer today than I did before September 11. to the families of those who were lost: your loss is our loss and I feel it. Thank you for your sacrifice.

I FEEL VERY STRONGLY ABOUT THIS HORRIFIC INCIDENT. I AM EXTREMELY DISTURBED BY THE ACTIONS OF THOSE IGNORANT BASTARDS. THEY ARE FRIGHTFULLY CONFUSED BY WHAT GOD'S QUEST IS FOR ALL OF US AS FOLLOWERS OF GOD. EVERYNIGHT BEFORE I PUT MY DAUGHTER TO SLEEP WE SAY A PRAYER THAT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD ARE WARM AND SAFE IN THEIR BEDS, HAVING SWEET DREAMS OF WHAT TOMMORROW MAY BRING. THE NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER 10TH, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE MORNING OF THE 11TH WOULD BRING. SINCE THAT NIGHT WE HAVE CHANGED OUR PRAYER. WE NOW PRAY THAT ALL OF "OUR" FAMILY ARE WARM AND SAFE IN THEIR BEDS, ONLY BECAUSE WE WERE "THE LUCKY ONES", WHOSE WHOLE FAMILY IS HERE IN CALIFORNIA. WE ALSO HAVE ADDED TO OUR PRAYERS THAT THOSE WHO HAVE LOST FAMILY IN THIS TRAGEDY FIND HOPE TO GO ON AND TO CONTINUE TO BELEIVE IN THE WONDERFUL GOD ALL OF US LOOK TOWARD IN TIME OF NEED. NOW WOULD BE THAT TIME. KEEP FAITH AND HOPE ALIVE. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL OF IT'S PEOPLE.

Today is the one month anniversary of the most horrendous act of terrorism in history and may we remain firm in our united front and resolve to punish those responsible.

While justice must be meted out, let us not forget that the vast majority of the Afghanis are a pathetic, downtrodden people browbeaten into terrified submission by the barbaric Taliban who claim to have a direct pipeline to a bloodthirsty god. Instead of concentrating on re-building their ecomony and rubble-strewn, drought-plagued country after the Soviet invasion and civil wars, the Taliban prefer to whip ignorant fanatics in a religious frenzy, blame their woes on the Great Satan (while accepting our humanitarian aid), treat donkeys better than their women and, worst of all, harbor terrorists and encourage their nefarious activities.

It is ironic that a primitive nation that produces nothing but dirt and poppies has aroused the awesome wrath of the U.S. and her allies.

My point is, with all our flaws and differences, let us NEVER forget that we live in the greatest country in the world, virtually all other (civilized) nations look up to us, and what a PRIVILEGE it is to be an American.

Now, let us get busy and rout these savages from the face of this earth.

I was linked to your site thru a porn site at first I was mildly offended. Then after reviewing your site I realized that this reference makes two statements. The level of patroitism demonstrated thru this site proves to me that those who practice the First Amendment are probably the very ones whom must stand as the staunchest supporters of the the freedoms of which this country represents. Secondly it has reassured me that the love of our Country is still alive and well, even in some of our less than savory areas. Please do not take this as a slur. My hat is off to you, your site is very professional, and a real tribute to this country and all it and we stand for. I am forwarding it to ALL of my friends. Keep up the good work. We will be stopping here daily to check on your progress. As a personal note, the care and detail evident in the assembly of the site demonstrates that this goes beyond just a labor of love, it is truly a personal declaration of your patroitism.

God Bless the USA Thank you, sincerely J.D. Arnold

I'm still having a difficult time grasping on to the fact that this is real. I want to wake from a bad dream and find it was just that - a bad dream. But it is real, all too real. The ones commiting this terror were in no way courageous. It is no act of courage to commit suicide. It does, however, take a great deal of courage to endure life from day to day, no matter where you live or the circumstances. More important, it takes even more courage to live the way God wants us to live. I pray so earnestly for our great nation and for the families who lost so much because of this terror. I have a great burden on my heart for the children effected by this. Our whole nation needs to read and follow II Chron. 7:14

Sept. 11th is a day that no one will ever forget. I was there when the first plane hit. It's a scene that's forever etched in my mind. NYC is my home...and thanks to those cowards it will never be the same. My thoughts are with those thousands of people who lost their lives, their families and their friends that day. I don't think I can say enough about my Mayor, my Governor, the FDNY and the NYPD. While they've showed that they've earned their wings, they've also shown they bleed red, white and blue.

September 11, 2001 - This date will live in infamy. I seem to remember this quote somewhere in my past. I beleive it is time to put prayer back in our schools, reinstate the draft and rebuild our military bases to protect our country. I pray for the families of those who were killed and injured in the World Trade Center and Pentagon terror attacks. I will forever display the flag of the USA on my home and automobiles and encourage every american to do the same to show their patriotism to the United States of America. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS US FOR WE ARE ALL HIS CHILDREN.

Great website! Not a time to run scared, but rather to be smart, and draw strength, love, and awareness from God: 2 Timothy 1:7 -- "For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

My Thoughts...finally - the anonymous webmaster speaks...

I have been extremely consumed with this website for the past few weeks. For those of you who may not know, it takes an incredible amount of time to build and maintain a site such as this one. I work all day and then in between all the regular chores of life, I try to provide this site for all. That may be a lie, I am not sure yet - I may be doing it for myself. I am a retired United States Marine of 22 years. My wife has worked in the Pentagon for nine years and ran for her life on September 11, 2001. I know I am consumed with this, but I am not yet convinced whether it is for you or for me. What do I feel? Indeed...

I feel betrayed. Not by my friends, not by my neighbors, not by my country, but by my fellow man. Where in hell does any man get the crazy idea that he can kill innocent civilians and gain sympathy for whatever cause that is his that he wants support with. How can a man be this STUPID? We are talking about the human race here - not an alien world. What the hell has happened? Have I just been an American too long and have been molded into what an acceptable level of behavior is?

The answer, unfortunately, is yes! I have watched on American television the past few weeks, a show called "Lost" where American teams are dropped in the middle of nowhere and have to find their way back to the Statue of Liberty. I cried with some of these teams as they realized that there is no country like their own. I watched peoples of other countries, where a months income equates to a day or less for the average American, give up that months income to assist these Americans in their quest to get home (a game, I remind you). I don't think I have ever been more sad. It was damn pathetic.

No wonder they hate us. We have no idea how good we have it in the grand scheme of things. The poorest American is doing 95 percent better than the average person in this world. How should we feel about that? Should we be embarrassed? Should we accept their hatred? NO!! But, what we should do is to continue what we are doing now. Bring to justice, or bring justice to those who would kill us for our endeavors to make life better, and allow all peoples everywhere to have an environment where they can create the same opportunities that Americans and others have. America did not get to where it is today by accident. Oh, no - there was a great price to pay. Does every country in this world have to pay that price? No, thank God - they just have to look at history and not let it repeat itself. If you were to take the history of the United States and remove the mistakes, then take what is left and call that the game plan, what a country and a way of life you could create in almost no time. It is damn near mind-boggling!!

So, to Osama bin Laden and his band of KILLERS, I say, "To death with you all" - I wish I could pull the trigger. As a Marine I was always happy to hear about our enemies wanting to die for their countries - I also wanted them to die for their countries! To everybody left behind after Osama and his organization and every other terrorist organization is gone, I say, "Now, let's get on with life, the way it should be."

May God Bless mankind...

I am sill in shock. This whole thing ig so unreal, yet I know it is all too real. My heart goes out to all of those who lost loved ones and to all the rescuers. They are all heroes. I was so proud to hear the news when we finally started to hit back. These things(they don't deserve to be called people) only know one thing and they are getting a taste of it now. We will win this fight. We must never forget and stand together strong from this day on. Like it or not we can never let our guard down again. STAND TALL AND BE STRONG. WE WILL WIN.

To all Americans: Please never believe the bad things that you hear from the SMALL MINORITYS of our country. This is what the MASS MAJORITY of Canadians know. We are the luckist country in the world to have you as our nieghbor. We could have been beside Russia during the cold war and we have no doubt that during that time we would have lost are freedom that we enjoy. Some people say no to 'big brother' I say your the best big brother we could have. I could fill this whole page with all the good that Americans have done for us and the world. Yes some mistakes have been made but we ALL know if decisions are going to be made thank God it is the Americans that are making them. DONT EVER QUESTIONS WHAT YOU COUNTRY HAS DONE. Thank God thier the world power and not someone like bin Laden or Hussain. Together we will win this war against evil!!!!

I have always been patriotic, so much so, that I would sometimes be stared at for wearing the colors of our wonderful flag, or even carrying one. Now, I am thrilled to see that the US, and even the world, have come together in compassion, understanding and love. I just hope we can continue on this way, long after we have put down the threat of terrorism. We ALL deserve to live in peace and harmony, health and happiness. Even if we are not rich of pocket (wealth), we can be rich of heart and spirit! Long live the love within us that sprouted throughout the world September 11, 2001!!!! May God bless the victims families, the EMT's, Police and Firemen, as they continue to work, continue to come to terms with the horrors they are witnessing. May He heal their hearts and souls, and with them and with all of us, heal our intolerance of the different. Just because we do not have the same religions, look-alike faces, the same accents (or none at all), or the same colored skin, does NOT mean that we are not human. We all have hearts that beat and break, eyes that see, noses that smell, mouths that speak and taste, and we ALL BLEED RED BLOOD when pricked. How can it get any clearer than that?! WE ARE ALL HUMAN!! If we were all the same, can you imagine how BORING that would be? Or diversity, our different beliefs, our different looks, are what make us interesting, and keep us on our toes. Imagine how sick you would get of having the same meal, every meal. Day in and day out. Never being able to vary it. ALWAYS the same thing. BORING! It's the same with people...I pray for every intolerant person to open their hearts, their minds, their souls to embrace the differences, and LEARN from those differences. IMAGINE OUR WORLD IN PEACE....if we continue to pull together, stand together, we may be able to LIVE IN PEACE. My greatest dream. GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

I forgot to mention before-I am 100% behind President Bush and the Armed Forces who will be fighting the coward that dared to throw our freedom back in our faces. I pray that any and all civilians and the people innocent of these crimes will not be harmed, but all those responsible BURN IN HELL! Although I feel that death is just TOO GOOD for them-they deserve to live with the torture and heartbreak that all the families of the victims of the WTC, PA crash, and the Pentagon have experienced. OH, WAIT!! That's right!! THEY DON'T HAVE HEARTS-OR SOULS!! Just hatred. I pity them, that they could never, will never, experience the love, peace and brotherhood, the rest of the world is sharing. Stay true to the feelings of retribution-but please do not take it out on the people who may be of the same homeland and religion of those who have attacked us. They left and in some cases fled, to US, the United States, to leave their shattered, poor lives, and enjoy the same freedoms we have. They too, are innocents. Running businesses, raising their kids, giving their children a better chance, better choices than they had. Living the American dream...look before you leap (to conclusions)! You could be committing the same kind of "terrorism" that was inflicted upon all of mankind-be tolerant, PLEASE.

Also, KUDOS! for this truly, heartwarming and wonderful sight/site. GOD BLESS US ALL!

I loved the page that I just read and the pictures. Brought tears to my eyes once again. My heart goes out to all the ones that lost loved ones during the attacks on AMERICA. My world almost quit turning that day while I was at home with my 3 year old and she looked at my and ask in innocent eyes Mama why did the planes crash and hurt all those Mama's and Daddy's. All I could say was really nothing, How do you explain 9-11-01 to a 3 year old? I told her that with the grace of GOD we will be alright. To all the people still out there at ground zero and everywhere else. Our prayers are with you and thoughts of this all getting better. Take care and GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU.

The wrong that was done to this country on September 11 will never be forgotten. Many people who have lived through this have never dealt with anything like this. I am one of those people. This is our Pearl Harbor. This is our assisination. The thing that the terrorist forgot, or didn't realize, is that this generation will fight to defend itself just like a previous generation did on December 7, 1941. They may have killed our people, but they didn't kill our determination.
